Q: Anything else we should know?
A: In addition to Paul Greenwood who has spoken twice at our training, others who presented have been Liz Loewy, Esq. who prosecuted the Brooke Astor Case, Christine Kieffer with FINRA, Erica Wood, JD with the ABA Commission on Law and Aging, and Jesse Delaney, Esq. with the Arizona Attorney Generals’ Office.

We have had good success with having press at our Trainings, both newspaper and local TV news. If Kerri were to present, I am sure that the media would be very interested in covering her presentation and/or personally interviewing her.

We would also invite local State legislators to either hear her presentation or meet with Kerri separately. We are very interested in supporting legislation about Visitation in VA. Fortunately, we have three local State Senators and one Delegate ( representing both parties), who are leaders in the VA General Assembly that we might be able to recruit for this purpose.

As mentioned earlier, our target audience is prosecutors, law enforcement, and adult protective services workers. Others who attend are Long Term Care Ombudsmen, private and legal aid attorneys, health care professionals, social workers, and related advocates. At our last training, we had 222 participants registered. We would expect a similar interest if Kerri presented.

Q: Tell us a bit about your organization. Feel free to include links.
A: The Greater Augusta Coalition Against Ault Abuse (GACAAA), a 501c3 organization located in the Shenandoah Valley of VA, which began in 2010 when Blue Ridge Legal Services received a mini grant from the then Administration on Aging to start an Elder Justice Coalition. Please see our website at www.gacaaa.com for Mission statement and activities. One of our mail goals is to increase the investigation and prosecution of adult abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation. Thus, we have been holding a free annual training for law enforcement, prosecutors, adult protective service workers, and related professionals. Our training has been well received with particpatation of between 150 and 200 of our target audience from all over Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina. Last year our keynote speaker was Paul Greenwood. The agenda and materials from last years training is on our website.

We are very interested in having Kerri present her story at our training. We would also like her to provide information about the visitation legislation she is working on. We would be willing to have our local state legislators there and help work toward such legislation in Virginia.

A: If she is in the state on a first Saturday of her choosing, I am certain she will draw many political party activists from all sides of the aisles that morning from 8:00 a.m. until about 11 a.m.

Q: What is the date and time of your event?
A: This inter-partisan breakfast group between members of the Orange County Democrats, Republicans, Greens, and Libertarians has been meeting for 21 years and was founded by some executive board members of those parties along with Bill Cowles, Orange County, FL, Supervisor of Elections. We meet on Semoran Blvd. every first Saturday of the month at the same Dennys since the mid-1990’s. We’re not going anywhere, we are going into the next election cycle on a very high note: Florida will be using the constitutional commission approach to add new amendments in 2018, it will all be very huge. In Orange County there’s only one mental health probate judge in the chaotic Ninth Judicial Circuit. Additionally, there’s been pro-euthanasia (physician-assisted suicide) amendments proposed to the Florida Constitution Revision Commission as possible 2018 fall ballot initiatives. Once again, Florida is poised to burst forth again as a hot pit of political and judicial activity in the months and years to come.
