Danyelle Acosta wants to volunteer 2019-07-01 15:50:44 -0700
Every organization needs volunteers. Friends of Kasem Cares has so much work to do as awareness of elder abuse and neglect issues remains frightfully scarce. Any and all volunteer efforts will be welcome and appreciated. Will you help?Become a volunteer

Kaiser Hospital could of helped but the social worker did not follow her responsibility to be a mandated reporter. I would love to get help finding a lawyer in this field and bringing this loophole in the system to light. In California you can get an Advance Directive and Power of Attorney with only signatures from two people. When my dad was on life support my Sister got a fraudulent Power of Attorney and began draining his funds. I immediately filed for Conservatorship , the only thing I could do. My sister then got an Advance Directive that was never sighed by my father just two of my sisters friends. She then told Kaiser to end life support immediately. My father passed away and so did my Conservatorship Case and she knew that. I brought all this to the social worker before hand whom did nothing. I even told her to look up the fact that my father could have never agreed to a Power of Attorney being on life support. If nothing else can be done please help me close this loophole. No one should have to lose a father in this way. Such documents should definitely need to be notarized.

Danyelle Acosta signed Take The Pledge 2019-07-01 15:28:55 -0700California Law made it possible for my sister to get a Power of Attorney and Advance Directive and keep me away from my dying father. I was not even able to attend his funeral and tell him good bye. Lets fight to change these laws.2,404 pledges
Stop the Silence. Promote Awareness. Raise your Voice.
- 1 to 2 million Americans age 65+ report having been abused by a loved one or someone they depend on for care.
- Only 1 in 14 incidents of elder abuse are ever reported to authorities.
- Only 1 in 25 cases of financial exploitation are ever reported, meaning there may be at least 5 million financial abuse victims each year.
You can do your part to end the silent epidemic of elder abuse by taking the pledge to stand up against elder abuse. There are 10,000 people who are turning 65 each and every day (Pew Research Center), and we are rapidly approaching a time where nearly 50% of the population will be 65 or older. Together, we can end the silence of elder abuse by standing united and raising our voices against this growing problem.
Show your support in this movement, by pledging to end the silence, raising awareness in your community, and speaking up against elder abuse.
